Dianne Gall
Internationally renowned Australian Contemporary Realist painter, Dianne Gall is known for her meticulous and detailed large-scale Oil Paintings. These works are cinematic, intensely colour saturated works featuring solitary female figures, with images that invite the viewer to contemplate the narrative surrounding each subject. The works are painted from images that Gall painstakingly creates from her directed photo shoots, with fastidious and deliberate lighting to evoke cinematic saturated Film Noir, around carefully sourced models and locations. Her latest work depicts women in Vintage American and Australian Muscle Cars, dressed in hand sourced vintage clothing to authentically refer to decades’ past.
After selecting a final image from her photoshoots, Gall dedicates months or even years to completing each painting. The resulting scenes capture a cinematic moment, creating a sense of continuity before and after the depicted instant. Like in cinema, viewers assume the role of passive observers; however, the stillness inherent in Gall’s paintings affords the opportunity for prolonged contemplation.
Gall has held over 20 solo exhibitions around Australia, been seen in Art Fairs in Palm Springs and Los Angeles with Arcadia Contemporary and the prestigious Pulse Contemporary Art Fair with Bernarducci Gallery, New York and several Australian Art Fairs in Melbourne & Sydney. Her work is held in various corporate and public collections in Australia and the USA including, Bond University Collection, Bennett Collection in USA as well as Artbank & Parliament House Collections in Canberra.
Dianne lives and works in the Adelaide Hills.
