Dianne Gall, Drive, the process of creating an exhibition
Years in the making, this mini-documentary follows the artist Dianne Gall through the extensive process it takes to create her new series of paintings for the exhibition, “DRIVE” at Nanda\Hobbs, Sydney opening 16th October running until November 1 2025.
The DRIVE series will ultimately consist of 110 meticulous and painstakingly detailed oil paintings over the next decade ( limited to a 110 painting in line with the State speed limit, 110 km/hr ).
This video follows Dianne Gall as she stages coloured gel lit photoshoots with Muscle Cars and models to tell new Femme Noir stories. Together with Dianne, Author, Dr Ken McGregor are interviewed throughout the documentary to provide insight and understanding of the work.
Dianne’s evocative images depict the women in control, driving the car, not as passengers. In these heightened noir settings Dianne Gall provides just enough information and mystery for the viewer’s mind to imagine a story.
Thanks to ABCX Productions for documenting the process and making of this video.
